Scanner guide (venue staff)

This page is for venue staff who check attendees in. It explains how to use the scanner screen in Pulse to validate ticket QR codes at the door.

Your Pulse account needs the Scanner role for the event. If you cannot see the scanner screen, ask the event organiser or admin to assign you the role.

  1. Sign in to Pulse. Use the account that has the Scanner role for this event.
  2. Open the scanner screen. Go to https://pulse-ucare.my/scan.
  3. Scan the attendee’s QR code. Point the scanner at the QR code on the attendee’s ticket, phone, or Google Wallet pass. The scanner reads the code automatically.
  4. Check the result on screen. The scanner shows one of the following:
    • Success — the code is valid and the attendee is checked in. Their name and details appear on screen.
    • Duplicate — this ticket has already been checked in. Confirm the person in front of you is the ticket holder before letting them through.
    • Invalid — the code is not recognised or no longer valid. Ask the attendee to open their ticket again, or refer them to the organiser.
  5. Confirm the attendee is checked in. Only wave the attendee through after the scanner shows a successful result.

Each ticket belongs to one person. Scan the code from the attendee’s own device, and do not accept screenshots sent through chat or social media — they may be copies of someone else’s ticket.

The scanner checks each code against Pulse, so it needs a working connection.

  1. Check your internet connection. Reconnect to Wi-Fi or move to a spot with better signal.
  2. Refresh the scanner screen. Reload https://pulse-ucare.my/scan and try the scan again.
  3. Contact the event admin. If the scanner still does not work, tell the event organiser or admin before letting attendees through manually.
